Campbell Scientific straight to WindRose.

CR1000X, CR6, CR350 and CR310 dataloggers with an internet connection. One HTTPPost line in the program sends every new record to WindRose over HTTPS.

What you need

  • A Campbell datalogger with an IP connection: Ethernet, cellular or Wi-Fi.
  • CRBasic Editor or Short Cut, to change the program.

Step by step

  1. In WindRose open Stations, then Add station, and choose Campbell Scientific (direct upload). Place the station on the map and save.

  2. WindRose shows the upload URL and a complete CRBasic program that uses it. Copy the program.

  3. Open it in CRBasic Editor and replace the sample measurement lines with your own sensors, keeping the field names. Send it to the logger.

  4. Within a minute of the first record, the station is live in WindRose.

Worth knowing

This integration is in beta. It follows Campbell’s published CRBasic and CSIJSON documentation and is being confirmed on real stations. If a value looks wrong, write to us from the link below.

Already running a program? Short Cut’s usual names (AirTC_Avg, RH, WS_ms_Avg, WindDir, Rain_mm_Tot, SlrW_Avg, BP_mbar_Avg, BattV_Min) are recognised. Add the HTTPPost line from the WindRose page to your own table and keep FileOption 1032.

Set the logger clock to the station’s local time, because record times carry no time zone.

Records the logger could not send during an outage go out with the next post, and their rain is still counted.
